Ancillary Task Film Magazine Research
For our A2 short film we have to compose two ancillary tasks along side. One of which being a film magazine review page and the other a movie poster.
Starting with film magazine research, I need to look at my demographics and psychographics for my film audience to decide what magazine they would read. Looking at a range of magazines from Cosmopolitan to Teen Magazines searching for what those interested in social realism would look at.
- Prior to this I researched the demographics for my audience to be:
Areas of which high graffiti is a common artistic expression as it's in a place of low-income watching a creative film piece that they can relate too. Indigenous audience members overall are the main people to which can relate to the movie.
However, there is also the other side to the argument which is that the audience are high brow audience such as Ken Loach audiences, who buy tickets to his cinema productions interested in the looking down on the lower class with a social conscience.
Plus the independent style audience members that are into arthouse film types. A creative piece of artwork that is rather less about representation but more about the beauty of filming the social realism of the world.
- I also researched the psychographics to be influenced by:
The character I am researching into for my protagonist is one who would be living in a low-income area. Suggesting the things she would wear are high street stores like Primark, H&M, New Look, Matalan.
Nevertheless, because of its genre, it's very rarely showed in cinemas and when it is showed it is more shown in independent cinemas which are high priced like everyman cinema.
However looking into male and female viewers, as a female protagonist it could attract the male audience but due to it being a social realistic movie its due to attract more a female audience

Therefore it seems to be that the suggestion for my audience type is a varied arrange of people, looking at generic magazine type.

Looking at this, Chat/ Take a Break look appealing because they are realistic magazines too, that share real life stories. Then Tv choice/ Whats on TV, are generic types of magazine because it targets a general audience.
