Researching The Title

My short movie name was really important because I wanted it to represent something else rather than the Movie. I wanted a clever name that could be applied within the movie but also have a separate meaning.

I had a brainstorm of many names that were abbreviated like:

1. Vicky - Her name being Victoria. So the Chav side is presented but really she has a posh name that subverts her look.

2. Liz - Her name being Elizabeth. Again, subverting her persona.

3. Gray - Becuase the colour grey is a grey area, so the theme of abuse, rejection and realism are all potential grey areas.

However, all these names were just not right. They didn't access the criteria I wanted. So I researched about names meaning strong BUT there were so many, so I continued looking at unusual female names and came across some like Aphrodite, which sparked my interest in symbolic names. Finally, I searched of symbols of strength and I got to a website that only increased my vivid name choosing, because on this website I came across an eagle. The eagle means strength but birds are so symbolic of a lot of things. I followed this up and discovered that a Pheonix bird is the symbol for:

- Life
- Time
- Magic
- Purity
- Clarity
- Rebirth
- Renewal
- Longevity
- Creativity
- Protection
- Immortality
- Resurrection
- Reemergence
- Transformation

All things applicable to my character. So her name is Phoenix. Then with the name I had to create a title, so I came up with:
- THE PHOENIX
- I AM PHOENIX

I finally chose the second one because it's a bold personal statement.
